Mumbai Among Cities With High Homeless Populations

Also known as “The Big Apple,” New York is the most populous city in the United States and it is also a place with highest number of homeless people.

With a figure of over 60,000, New York State saw a larger increase in the number of homeless in the past year than any other American states.

Considering the fact that New York is one of the biggest cities on the planet, it offers the highest real estate prices in the world which at times cannot be easily afforded by the common person. The lack of affordable housing for the homeless is one of the problems in New York City.

Such problem arises out of the lack of housing assistance initiatives provided by local authorities to individuals and families who lack housing.

Despite all these, New York, home to 21,800,000 people is a symbol of American capitalism, freedom and democracy.
