Mobile Addiction Inflicts Indian Doctors; 10 Pct Check Messages in OT



Usage of mobile phones in OTs is not a trend quite strange in a country like India. Experts suggested that studies must be conducted for patient safety problems arising from the use of non-medical devices in the OT.

A study carried out abroad observes that wireless gadgets may cause interference to equipments inside an OT.

A senior doctor from JJ Hospital, Mumbai, expressed concern that the electromagnetic radiation from these devices will prove more harmful than the distraction of a surgeon during surgery.

The Indian Medical Association’s survey reveals that sometimes physicians experience a phantom ringing i.e. a feeling that the phone is ringing when actually it is not.

According to a survey released on the occasion of World Environment Day, it was suggested that there should be an electronic curfew for about half-an-hour every day before sleeping. .
