Mobile Addiction Inflicts Indian Doctors; 10 Pct Check Messages in OT

In the study it was found that 43 percent doctors are victims of FOMO (Fear of Missing Out), while about 26 percent are obsessed to social media which they used through their cell phones.

President of HCFI, Dr K K Aggarwal said, "Nearly 43 percent doctors having high levels of anxiety, stress or insecurity when staying away from their phones is worrisome."

Aggarwal also said that doctors too speak on their cell phones in the OT through a nurse or assistant. He feels that prolonged use of cell phones leads to neck pain, dry eyes, computer vision disease, phone anxiety, insomnia, FOMO and nomophobia (fear of losing a contact with phones).

Dr Aggarwal stresses on the fact that cell phones can harm us more than what the cancer does.

During the interview for the study, around 70 percent out of 87 physicians and surgeons admitted of keeping their phones with them at all times.
