International Women's Day: A Tribute To All The Inspiring Women



International Women's Day# Marie Curie:

Who Was She? The lady who pioneered the Radioactivity research and discovered polonium and radium. She was duly honored with a Nobel Prize and the only woman who was given the status of a Nobel Laureate twice. She was given the award in multiple sciences.

What Did She Do? This Polish and French chemist has many firsts actually. She was the first woman Professor at the University of Paris in 1995. She hailed from a humble background but that did not stop the young Curie from pursuing her dreams.

# Ida B Wells:

Who Was She? Civil Rights Activists and a journalist of sorts. Orphaned at the age of 16 and forced to support a family with siblings. Wells is an inspiration for all the women who are struggling their way upstream. Wells was born in slavery grew up to be a militant in her demands for equality and justice for Afro-Americans. Not only was she a woman, but she was also an Afro American.

What Did She Do? This uncompromising “race woman”, who worked for the advancement of women, was a seminal figure of America in 1900. She put herself through university and became a writer, an editor of her own news publication and a political activist on racial injustice. After the lynching of two friends, she conducted research on how lynching was used as a way to control or punish African-Americans, rather than being based on criminal acts.
