"India's G20 marked a historic Milestone", announces UNGA President Dennis Francis

Dennis Francis, President of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), commended India's G20 presidency this year for highlighting the world's collective responsibility. Under India's leadership, the G-20 presidency focused on the theme of "Vasudeva Kutumbhakam", serving as a historic milestone that emphasized the idea of one world, one family, and one future. This theme reminded nations of their duty to protect the singular world we all call home.
During his address at the 'International Conference on Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam' at the UN headquarters, President Francis also criticized the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas, which has resulted in numerous civilian casualties. He strongly condemned the escalating violence in the Middle East, emphasizing that it contradicts the principles of a unified world and the cherished values of unity and solidarity.
President Francis further highlighted the global challenges, from conflicts and climate emergencies to pandemics and supply chain disruptions, which have left people around the world suffering and apprehensive. He stressed the increasing volatility of our era and noted that the most vulnerable are often the hardest hit. In these challenging times, President Francis underscored the importance of unity and solidarity, resonating with the theme of "One World, One Family". He appreciated India's leadership for reminding us of the essential truth that, in times of distress and alarm, we often come together, seeking support and solace, as it is fundamentally human to do.
