India is poised to become a global tech powerhouse, with industry leaders citing its thriving tech ecosystem and commitment to artificial intelligence (AI) as key factors driving the country's rise. Ahead of National Technology Day on May 11, industry experts praised India's focus on AI and its potential to revolutionize various sectors.
"From startups to established firms, the integration of AI technologies is unlocking unprecedented efficiency, innovation, and scalability", said Abhishek Gupta, Managing Director of IT company SailPoint India. He highlighted India's dynamic workforce and vibrant tech scene as significant contributors to the nation's emerging leadership in the digital era.
The Indian government’s recognition of AI's importance and its initiatives to harness its potential underscore the understanding that technology is the key to the next phase of growth and prosperity.
Rohit Jetly, Country Head-India at Fidelity International, noted that the convergence of generative AI, data virtualization, and other cutting-edge technologies is transforming traditional sectors and ways of working. This innovation, he said, is driving a new era of unprecedented efficiency and reshaping industries.
Jetly also pointed out that global capability centers (GCCs) in India are expanding the landscape of advanced technology, allowing people to upskill and contribute to global advancements from within the country.
A recent Nasscom report in partnership with BCG projects that India's AI market will reach $17 billion by 2027, further emphasizing the country's growing significance in the global tech landscape.
