India, Fourth Most Vacation Deprived Country

Bangalore: As the year is coming to an end, everyone must be trying to get those few days of vacation left to plan a quick getaway. Unfortunately India doesn’t share the same level of enthusiasm with the world. India is rated the fourth most vacation deprived nation in the world according to a survey. The survey conducted by Expedia surveyed over 8500 travelers in 22 countries worldwide.

As per the survey American employees take the least number of leaves, about 12 days annually, yet they aren’t as vacation deprived as the Asian countries. It means that in the 12 days vacation, the Americans take 10 days to travel, relax and rejuvenate, unlike the 23 percent of Indians who only get to take weekend trips due to work pressure.

Around the world Asia presents the most pity picture with maximum number of countries where the employees do not fully use their vacation time.  As per the survey, Asians take the least vacation days, with Japan on the top spot of being most deprived, by taking just five days off out of the 13 days leave offered annually. South Korea follows at second place by taking just 7 days out the 10 days given.

European nations take the most vacations, where the employees get 25 to 30 days off and the religious and state holidays are not included. The French and Spanish workers make the most by taking all the 30 days vacation, while Germany comes second with utilizing 28 out of the 30 days. Among the European workers the Italians end up with about 8 days of their vacation unused.
