A student-founded startup incubated at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati has made a notable impact at the Inter IIT Tech Meet 14.0 by engaging nearly 2,000 students from all 23 IITs through a sponsor-led technical challenge.
Genuity IO Pvt. Ltd., a startup incubated at IIT Guwahati’s BioNEST incubation centre, co-sponsored the national-level technical meet and actively contributed to its technical programme. As part of the sponsor-curated events, the startup designed and released a 'no-preparation' problem statement focused on algorithmic optimisation. The challenge encouraged participants to think quickly and apply optimisation techniques to practical, real-world problem scenarios.
The problem statement was taken up by student teams from multiple IITs across the country. According to organisers, the challenge helped participants strengthen their competitive programming skills while gaining exposure to real-world applications of algorithmic thinking on a national platform.
Genuity IO Pvt. Ltd. was founded by Adari Karthikeya and Shivansh Gupta, both third-year students at IIT Guwahati. Their involvement in shaping a technical event at the Inter IIT Tech Meet is seen as a rare example of a student-led startup playing an active role in defining the technical agenda of a flagship IIT competition. Traditionally, such events have seen greater participation from well-established industry players.
Commenting on the growing startup ecosystem in the region, Dr. Swapnil Sinha, CEO of IIT Guwahati-BioNEST, highlighted the role of institutional support in nurturing young ventures. He said that the startup ecosystem in North East India is moving steadily from potential to performance, with founders building scalable and innovation-driven companies. He added that IIT Guwahati, through BioNEST, is supporting this transformation by providing structured mentoring, infrastructure, and industry connections, helping entrepreneurs turn ideas into market-ready products and positioning the region as an emerging hub for deep-tech and bio-innovation.
The participation of Genuity IO Pvt. Ltd. also helped increase IIT Guwahati’s national visibility in the areas of student entrepreneurship and technology-driven initiatives.
Speaking about the experience, Adari Karthikeya, founder and CEO of Genuity IO Pvt. Ltd., expressed gratitude for the support received from the institute and its incubation centre. He said the guidance and encouragement from IIT Guwahati and BioNEST enabled the startup to contribute to a national platform like the Inter IIT Tech Meet and interact with some of the brightest student innovators across the IIT ecosystem. He described the opportunity as both motivating and humbling for the team.
Inter IIT Tech Meet 14.0 was co-sponsored by several industry and research organisations, including Adobe, ISRO, Observe.AI, Arista Networks, and Drona Aviation, among others. Organisers said such collaborations aim to provide students with meaningful industry exposure, mentorship, and hands-on learning experiences.
Genuity IO Pvt. Ltd. focuses on building data systems using semantic knowledge graphs for research and enterprise use cases. Its work includes modelling complex data relationships and generating synthetic datasets to address challenges related to data scarcity, privacy, and testing needs.
