Google Launches 'Gemini for Google Workspace' AI Tools
Google has announced that it will power some of its business-focused artificial intelligence (AI) tools with its 'Gemini' AI models. The tools, previously known as "Duet AI in Workspace", are being rebranded as "Gemini for Google Workspace" and will now be available at a lower price point, ranging from $20 to $30 per user per month. This move is seen as a competitive response to Microsoft-backed OpenAI.
Initially introduced in August, 'Duet AI in Workspace' offers AI assistants for tasks like writing in Google Docs, drafting emails in Gmail, and creating custom visuals in Google Slides. Google aims to enhance its position in the AI space, especially in comparison to OpenAI's offerings, such as the GPT-4 model and image generation tool DALL·E, priced at $20 per user for individuals and starting at $25 per user for businesses.
Google also mentioned that individual users can access Gemini through a subscription to Google One AI Premium, which provides additional storage and features in Gmail, Drive, and Photos. Additionally, Google Workspace users will receive a standalone chat experience called "Chat with Gemini", with assurances that conversations within this tool will not be used for advertising purposes. This move reflects Google's efforts to expand AI capabilities and compete in the evolving landscape of AI-powered tools and services.
