Gandhi's Autobiography: An Answer to Terrorism in Kashmir

Bangalore: The Autobiography of The Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi entitled 'The Story of My Experiments with Truth' will soon reach the northern most part of the country and also one of the disturbed areas - Jammu and Kashmir, reported Prashant Dayal for TOI.

The book is being translated by three intellectuals after increasing demand from Kashmiris to print to the life story of Bapu in their own regional language. Among the three translations, the best translation which has Gandhi’s teachings will be selected. In a state entangled in the web of militancy and terrorism, Vivek Desai, Managing trustee of Navjivan Trust believes that this Kashmiri translation of Mahatma Gandhi’s life story will shower a strong message of peace and non-violence. He also said, "Gandhi's life would offer a solution to the problem of terrorism to the locals. We hope it helps trigger a mental thirst for peace through non-violence," as reported by TOI.

Gandhi’s 'My Experiments with Truth' is available in 15 regional languages already and the Kashmiri and Punjabi version of the book will soon hit the market.

The autobiography which has sold over 48.60 lakh copies in India has the highest number of sales in Malayalam followed by Gujarati and Hindi.

The scripts to be used for Kashmiri version of the book are yet to be decided as they don’t have a script.

The book will be published by Ahmedabad-based publishing house Navjivan Trust.
