Fastest Trains Currently Running, Before Hopefully India Gets Its First Bullet Train



Bhopal Shatabdi Express

Before the Gatimaan Express, Bhopal Shatabdi was the fastest train of India that comes under superfast train category. It was started in 1988, running at a stretch from Habibganj (Bhopal) to New Delhi railway stations covering about 707 Km in 8 hours 25 minutes. It runs at a speed of 140 Kmph that makes it the second fastest one in India.

Mumbai-Delhi Rajdhani Express

It was introduced on May 17, 1972, between the Mumbai to Delhi track. It runs at an average speed of 92 Kmph that makes it the fastest train in the list of Rajdhani trains. Initially, it covered the 1385 km distance in 19 hours and 5 minutes, but after electrification of the route in 1993, the journey cut short to 15 hours and 50 minutes. It was the fastest train of the country before the inauguration of Bhopal Shatabdi.
