Dilip Kumar: Holding the Guinness World Record for having the most number of awards ever won by any Indian actor,
Dilip Kumar was born on 11 December 1922. Born as Yusuf Khan, he later changed his name to Dilip when he migrated to India, from his birthplace, Peshawar, now Pakistan.
The evergreen actor, known worldwide as ‘Tragedy King,’ started his career with his first movie ‘Jwar Bhata,’ which didn’t work out well in the box office, but later, he rose to prominence through his hit movie ‘Jugnu.’ You cannot miss his legendry movie ‘Mughal-e-azam’ which, even today mesmerizes the audience.
He won several recognitions and accolades and one among them is the Nishan-e-Imtiaz award from the Pakistan Government in 1997.
This was the highest civilian award given in Pakistan. Dilip Kumar has the record for winning Filmfare’s Best Actor award three times in a row, 1955, 1956, and 1957. Pakistan Government is planning to turn Dilip Kumar’s Peshawar home into a heritage site.
