In a groundbreaking move, DTDC Express, a leading logistics service provider, has announced a strategic partnership with Skye Air Mobility to introduce last-mile drone-based deliveries. This partnership marks a significant advancement in the logistics sector as DTDC enters its 35th year of operations.
The inaugural drone delivery took place between Bilaspur and Gurgaon Sector 92, covering a distance of 7.5 kilometers in just 3-4 minutes. This is a notable improvement over the usual road route, which takes approximately 15 minutes. The launch of this service represents a major milestone in DTDC's ongoing efforts to integrate innovative technology into its operations.
Abhishek Chakraborty, CEO of DTDC Express Ltd., highlighted the importance of this partnership in the company’s growth strategy. “As we commence the 35th year of DTDC’s journey, our strategic partnership with Skye Air marks a significant milestone in setting new benchmarks for last-mile delivery,” Chakraborty stated. He emphasized that the collaboration aims to address the evolving logistics landscape, driven by digitalization and shifting consumer behaviors. “We are committed to redefining last-mile logistics in this country and setting new industry standards”, he added.
The drone delivery system not only enhances speed but also aligns with DTDC's sustainability goals. The technology promises to reduce carbon emissions and alleviate traffic congestion. Ankit Kumar, Founder & CEO of Skye Air, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration. “We are thrilled to collaborate with DTDC on its 35th Foundation Day. Our advanced drone delivery infrastructure is set to redefine last-mile deliveries in urban areas. By integrating drones, we can bypass traffic congestion, enhancing delivery speed and efficiency while contributing to environmental sustainability. Each drone delivery saves over 520 grams of CO2 emissions compared to traditional methods”, Kumar noted.
