CWG: Meet India's 10 Gold Medal Winners


# Yogeshwar Dutt (Wrestling)

Starting his wrestling career at an early of eight, Yogeshwar Dutt, the Olympics bronze medalist did India proud again in the men’s 65kg freestyle wrestling in Commonwealth Games 2014.

He beat Canada's Jevon Balfour 10-0 in the men's 65kg freestyle finals. Inspired by Balraj Pehlwan of his native village and trained under the guidance of coach Ramphal, Yogeshwar has achieved excellence in wrestling. He was conferred the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna award in 2012.

# Vikas Gowda (Discuss throw)

Discus thrower Vikas Shive Gowda won India’s first gold medal in athletics during the 2014 Commonwealth Games at the Hampden Park Stadium. The 31-year-old converted the silver he had won four years ago in New Delhi into the yellow metal with a best throw of 63.64 meters.

# Sushil Kumar (Wrestling)

Sushil won the gold medal against Qamar Abbas of Pakistan. The two-time Olympic medalist put up a sparkling show as he steered himself towards the win in the wrestling arena. He won his all four bouts quite comfortably with a score of 8-0 in his 75kg freestyle category. “This medal means a lot to me. It is my second gold in 74kg and first in a major international event. I had worked hard for it and now I am happy that I have got it. It has boosted my confidence a lot since 74kg is new for me. This medal will stand in good stead as I prepare for the Rio Games,” Sushil told IANS.
