The Asian Development Bank (ADB) announced the appointment of Bhargav Dasgupta as the Vice-President (Market Solutions) for a period of 3 years. His role includes responsibility for the management of the operations of ADB’s Private Sector Operations Department and Office of Markets Development and Public-Private Partnerships.
ICICI Lombard's MD and CEO, Dasgupta, brings over 35 years of experience to the table. Having worked across a range of economies, including in Asia and the Pacific, he resigned from his position at ICICI. In an exchange filing, the insurance company informed that Dasgupta will continue with the company till the last working day and will be intimated in due course of time.
The insurance pioneer led ICICI Lombard General Insurance Co Ltd to be the first listed general insurance company in India. He has held various leadership positions, including project finance, corporate banking and treasury, e-commerce, international banking, and insurance, in his earlier years at ICICI Bank.
Playing a key role in ICICI's globalization and insurance business growth, Dasgupta has been pivotal as Senior General Manager and Head of the International Business Group and the Global Markets Group. He was responsible for the company's clients in international markets, including correspondent banks and all international lending.
International operations establishments in 14 countries through branches, subsidiaries, or representative offices were also led by Dasgupta, who hailed education from the Institute of Management, Bangalore.
