Adani Defence & Aerospace, in partnership with the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), unveiled India's first Vehicle-Mounted Counter-Drone System at Aero India 2025. The launch was officiated by Dr. B.K. Das, Director General (Electronics & Communication System), DRDO, in the presence of senior defence officials, industry leaders, and experts. This milestone marks a major step in strengthening India's indigenous defence capabilities against emerging aerial threats.
The counter-drone system is designed as a rapid-response, highly mobile solution that integrates multiple advanced technologies to detect, track, and neutralize hostile drones. With the increasing use of drones in modern warfare for reconnaissance and offensive operations, the need for an effective anti-drone mechanism has become critical. This system, mounted on a 4x4 vehicle, offers long-range protection, agility, and precision, making it a formidable asset for India's armed forces.
It comprises a high-energy laser for exact drone neutralization, a 7.62 mm gun to engage aerial threats, and highly advanced radar, SIGINT, electro-optical sensors, and jammers, which can carry out real-time target acquisition and tracking within 10 km distance. It enables rapid deployment, with the ease of operational flexibility in securing essential defence and civilian assets by providing a single platform for multiple technologies of counter drones.
Commenting on the launch, Ashish Rajvanshi, CEO of Adani Defence & Aerospace, said, "This unveiling is a testament to India's thriving defence innovation ecosystem, enabled by DRDO's world-class R&D and the Transfer of Technology (ToT) framework. Adani Defence & Aerospace is proud to translate DRDO's cutting-edge technology into an operationally ready solution that empowers our armed forces to counter evolving drone threats". Our promise is to keep India safe through the most sophisticated, indigenously developed defense systems.
The system is also critical in tackling asymmetric threats. According to Dr. B.K. Das, "The Vehicle-Mounted Counter-Drone System is an important move to strengthen the defence capabilities of India. Integrating multiple counter-drone technologies into a mobile platform ensures immediate response and agility. DRDO is committed to developing next-generation solutions with its Indian industry partners to strengthen national security".
The launch reaffirms India's commitment to self-reliance in defence technology, reducing dependence on imports while advancing indigenous capabilities. As the threat of drones continues to evolve globally, the partnership between Adani Defence & Aerospace and DRDO underlines India's capability to develop cutting-edge, homegrown defence solutions.
Aero India 2025 is one of the most prominent aerospace and defence exhibitions, and it is a very important platform for India to present its military technology advancements. This unveiling of the counter-drone system reasserts the country's position as a global leader in defence innovation, with the commitment to protecting strategic assets with cutting-edge solutions.
