The Adani Group has announced a significant investment of Rs 6,000 crore to build two world-class integrated health campuses in Mumbai and Ahmedabad in collaboration with the Mayo Clinic. These campuses will feature 1,000-bed multi-specialty hospitals and medical colleges, aiming to provide cutting-edge healthcare and medical education.
Gautam Adani, Chairman of the Adani Group, shared the development on X (formerly Twitter), stating, “Proud to launch Adani Health City in partnership with Mayo Clinic, pioneering world-class medical research, affordable healthcare & education. Starting with two 1000-bed hospitals and medical colleges in Ahmedabad & Mumbai, we are on a mission to bring cutting-edge medical innovation across India”.
Mayo Clinic is the world's largest integrated not-for-profit medical group practice and will provide technical expertise and strategic guidance on clinical practices, technology integration, and healthcare quality enhancement. Adani Group confirmed that it would fully bear the cost of these institutions to ensure affordable, high-quality healthcare for people across all socio-economic backgrounds.
Each campus will consist of a 1,000-bed multi-super-specialty hospital, a medical college with an annual intake of 150 undergraduate students, 80+ residents, and 40+ fellows. Additionally, the facilities will include step-down and transitional care units, as well as advanced research centers focusing on clinical research, artificial intelligence, and biomedical informatics.
Adani Group declared that these integrated campuses are part of a larger vision to refine India's healthcare landscape, with plans to add more such Adani Health Cities in multiple locations across the country. Howbeit, actual information about future expansions remains undisclosed so far.
This initiative aligns with the Rs 60,000 crore commitment made by the Adani family two years ago on Gautam Adani’s 60th birthday, aimed at enhancing healthcare, education, and skill development in India. “The development of Adani Health City is the first of many major projects from this contribution”, Adani stated. "I am confident that our partnership with Mayo Clinic will help elevate healthcare standards in India, with a special emphasis on complex disease care and medical innovation".
These hospitals will be aided by the expertise of Mayo Clinic in medical research and healthcare innovation to create an efficient and technologically advanced healthcare ecosystem. This collaboration is likely to bring together the latest developments in digital and information technology for the improvement of patient care and medical education.
Through this effort, the Adani Group plans to transform the health sector of India with state-of-the-art medical services, thereby shaping future generations of medical professionals.
