Adani Airport Holdings Limited, the largest private airport operator in India, has joined forces with global technology company Thales to enhance the operation of airports and boost better experiences for passengers in India. The company will help improve smart security, biometric-based passenger journeys, and operational efficiency as part of efforts to modernize Indian airports.
Since January of 2024, Thales has rolled out its Fly to Gate biometric system across seven airports owned by AAHL. This touchless, facial recognition-based ID system is in line with the government's DigiYatra initiative, whereby processing times are cut by as much as 30% for passengers. It does this by eliminating the need for physical documents through enhanced security.
Our Fly to Gate biometric solution for DigiYatra and the smart Airport Operation Control Centre, APOC, will enable AAHL to optimize their operations, providing a safe, seamless, and high-quality journey experience for millions of passengers", said Ashish Saraf, Vice President and Country Director of Thales India.
Furthermore, AAHL extends this collaboration by introducing the APOC across all of its airports. This is going to be a cloud-based platform that will offer one source of centralized operation data. With automation, it will also leverage big data analytics and AI to help improve management, predict resource allocation gaps, and streamline processes further.
As of date, Fly to Gate technology has been implemented at seven AAHL airports, namely, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Guwahati, Jaipur, Lucknow, Mangaluru, and Thiruvananthapuram. This also resonates with the vision for India to become the world's largest aviation market in 2047.
Thales' latest technology would propel AAHL into the better passenger experience and higher operational efficiency, which will take the growth of the Indian aviation industry to a newer high.
