7. Air France Airbus A330 crash in the Atlantic Ocean in 2009:

Air France Airbus A330 was a commercial flight operated from Galeão International Airport in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil to Charles de Gaulle International Airport in Paris, France. This flight crashed into the Atlantic Ocean on 1st June 2009. The lives of 216 passengers and 12 crew members were lost in this tragic event.

The main cause of the crash of Airbus A330 is the after temporary inconsistencies between the airspeed measurements as the pitot tubes which are used for measuring airspeeds were blocked by ice crystals and ultimately led the aircraft to crash. The crash was the deadliest in Air France’s history.

8. Spanair MD-82 Crash in Spain 2008:

The Spanair MD-82 crashed on 20th August 2008 just after taking off from the runway of Barajas Airport. The aircraft was a McDonnell Douglas MD-82 scheduled passenger flight. This was believed to be the first and the only deadly accident for Spanair in the two decade history of the company.

The Spanair’s crash took away the lives of 154 people with only 18 of the passengers surviving. The pilot was held responsible for the crash as he lost control of the aircraft immediately after the take off. As such, it was Spain's deadliest aviation accident in 25 years.
