Swami Vivekananda: A Turning Point in History of India

Swami Vivekananda’s thoughts call attention from a wide range of readers and scholars. As his writings are a part of the nationalist response to the imperialist account of Indian civilization and history. He never exclusively accepted spiritual view of thoughts without the modernized point of view, in the world that he lived in, which made him different from many of the other spiritual thinkers.

Sri Aurobindo said about Swami Vivekananda underlining his cultural element. He said, “Swamiji’s way was the true way of awakening sympathy,—by showing ourselves to the nations as a people with a great past and ancient civilization who still possess something of the genius and character of our forefathers, have still something to give the world and therefore deserve freedom by proof of our manliness and fitness, not by mendicancy.”

Swami Vivekananda had a vision of unifying the teachings of all religions in the world and picking the best out of each one. He was a powerful speaker and a learned scholar who inspired many by his simple yet intense manner of delivery.
