Soon Traffic Violators Will Get Their Lincense Suspended

BENGALURU: The traffic rules violators may have tougher days in the near future. Young lads who like to over speed and perform various stunts with their bikes and cars shall not be left free by the police as per the new Act directed by the Panel headed by the Justice K S Radhakrishnan, as reported by the Indiatoday.

The Panel directed that all the states and the union territories to suspend the driving license for three months, of those who violate traffic rules such as over speeding and signal jumps. The panel also ordered several other strict impositions in order to reduce the road mishaps.

Overloading goods carriages, carrying passengers in goods carriages, drunk driving, and use of mobile phone while driving are subjects under the new impositions, as the report cited "The committee further directs that in case of driving a vehicle under the influence of drinks or drugs, the police should prosecute the offender and seek imprisonment as prescribed under Section 185 of the Motor Vehicle Act, 1988 even for the first offence."

The report submitted by the Panel suggests, two wheeler owners to carry an extra helmet with them as it is mandatory to wear helmet for co-riders as well. Furthermore the Panel has given out strict guidelines on wearing seat belts in cars and violators of the above rules should be given road safety education and proper counseling along with imposing the prescribed fine by the traffic Police. The report further stated "In case where the law relating to the use of helmet is violated by either the main rider or the pillion rider, they should both be subject to road safety education and counseling for not less than 2 hours before imposition of fine as prescribed under the Act."
