PM I-Day Speech: Start-Up India, Stand-Up India

BANGALORE: Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation on its 69th independence day, unlike his most speeches, this time he opted to stay simple and take the advantage of situation to prove the country whatever his government has done for the betterment of the nation. He didn’t fail to make assurances and do a substantial amount of stocktaking, reports Hindustan Times.

PM revisited many of the schemes he announced in his maiden speech last year, among them those for the inclusion of the poor and marginalized. He also mentioned about including the poor in the wealth generation. Considering the agriculture in the country he also focused on the sustainability of Schemes for the farmers.

The principle commitment he made this year is of ‘one rank one pension’ for the armed force veterans and stated although this will be of primary importance will not be able to put a dateline since this complex move requires huge financial implications. PM also did not forget to acknowledge the success of his NDA government in the ‘Swatch Bharath’ campaign and claimed that 425,000 toilets have been built in 262,000 schools, which will have a dramatic effect in the health especially for girl Childs.

He put accross the concept of making India as a startup hub through which the country can grow to heights. Promising bank loans for start-ups for tribals, dalits and women was a new dimension that he added this year. He also gave the country a new slogan ‘Start-up India, Stand-up India’.

Despite the talk about integration of the country he did not mention the need of support from the opposition to work with the government for the betterment. This remains as bitterness between the government and opposition.
