Muslim's Vote Might Be a Deciding Factor in Bihar Polls

BANGALORE: As the Bihar polls are on the way, the NDA might lose this to congress since the communal differences are still prominent in the state after the 1989 riots. Bhagalpur which was known as the ‘silk city’ of India has been dethroned and the imported Chinese silk yarns have been replaced the market. The weavers in the state are maximum number of Muslims who have suffered the effects of communal violence, reports Economic Times.

The city and the weavers have not forgiven and moved forward from 1989. They still carry the wounds in their heart which creates a huge difference in the political equation in the state. The Muslim community in the state is against the BJP thus the non-NDA parties are taking advantage of the weavers community votes.

The Muslim weavers community has no other option than to support a non-NDA party which stands the best chance to defeat BJP. Thus these parties using them as vote banks. No matter which party wins the conditions of the community remains the same.

The lack of government support has been forced the weavers to take up other daily wages jobs and the young generation to go out of the state and take up some other jobs. The increased import of Chinese silk yarn has resulted in the ignorance of the silk city weavers. Going by the numbers, Muslim voters will be a major factor in three of the seven constituencies in Bhagalpur district.

Thus the communal disputes and non-NDA vibe seems to favor the congress party in the coming election.
