India's Most Livable Cities, Kolkata is No.1

BANGALORE: The city which ranks third in the most populated metropolitan area in India ‘Kolkata’ has been ranked as the best place for quality of life compared to other cities in India according to the Annual survey of India’s city-systems conducted by Janaagraha, a Bangalore- based NGO.

The Survey was conducted among 21 cities based on 100 criterions that define the functioning and planning of the cities. The survey revealed that the Indian cities were not even close to the global ones like London and New York, but Kolkata was Fourth on the list because of its sturdy state election commission and high percentage voter turnouts followed by Thiruvananthapuram and Bhopal with second and third on the list with their scores compared to Kolkata.

The Chief Minister of Kolkata Mamata Banerjee wrote, "We are happy that over the last three years, our efforts to restore the past glory of Kolkata and make it a truly great Metro - from beautification to making the city clean and green to improving civic amenities is yielding results,” reports TNN.
