ALLAHABAD: Listing out its achievements, BJP on Monday said the economy has gained and decision making process strengthened since the Narendra Modi government came to power two years ago.

Union minister Nitin Gadkari said that the government adopted an integrated economic approach which resulted in the economy growing to 7.9% and the agricultural growth pulling out of a "negative situation".

"The agricultural growth is now pegged at 2.4%. Earlier it was pegged at 0.2%. The situation was negative," he said briefing reporters of the resolutions adopted by the BJPNational Executive.

He said while during the previous UPA rule, there were 3.5 crore bank accounts, but following the launch of the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojna, the number of account holders have jumped to 21.80 crore, with several of them availing facilities such as debit card and accident insurance.

Expressing government's commitment to uplift the farming community of the country, he said Rs 50,000 crore have been earmarked in the Union Budget to complete pending irrigation projects in the next four years.

"There was a time when scuffles used to take place to get urea. Now a record 25 lakh tonne urea has been produced and is available easily. Neem coating of urea, he said, has ensured that it is no more black marketed for other purposes.

Referring to the achievements made in the power sector, he said there has been a surplus of coal production in the country which has led to increased thermal power production.

Gadkari said "corruption-free decision making" has ensured that there is no more "policy paralysis" in the country.
