Bangalore: It’s been 67 years since the Indian independence and the country has only made us proud each passing year. Having borne some legendary freedom fighters like Bhagath Singh, Bal Gangadhar Tilak, Subhas Chandra Bose, Rani Lakshmibai and many others, India can still boast a lot about its men who protect the country at the border, mortgaging their lives for nothing more than patriotism. Indian army has always fascinated major countries and leaders from all around the world.

It is recorded that Hitler, one of the greatest dictators ever, expressed his desire to acquire the Gurkha regiment because he believed that he could have acquired the whole of Europe; as it was the only force in the world that could fight and withstand German attack. On this day of India’s 67th Independence it is our duty and obligation to pay tribute to the great martyrs the world has ever seen. Also, it is high time that we know more about our army and a lot about its unheard achievements.

10. After India got its independence and after the country’s partition, four of the 10 Gurkha regiments were transferred to the British Army. The rest of the army was divided between India and Pakistan.
