9. Indian army is the third best army in the world after China and United States of America. It has around 1,129,900 active personnel and over 960,000 personnel in reserve out of which 160,000 are a part of the Indian Territorial Army however only 40,000 report for regular duty.

7. Indian army has never been biased; it is one of the only government organizations in the country to recruit without any provisions for reservations based on caste, creed or religion. Candidates are selected into the army based on merit and their physical fitness.

6. Royal Indian Army (Under the British rule) became the largest volunteering army in the history with over 25,00,000 men serving in infantry, airforce and naval regiments over Africa, Asia and Europe during the end of World War II.
