Puli Kali
Place: Thrissur City, Kerala
Puli Kali is a very old dance form of Kerala that originated some 200 years back. With the arrival of Onam, this festival is the one of the most talked about. The dance form is performed primarily in the districts of Trichur and Palghat. Dancers dress up as animals and move to the rhythm of loud music from the drums, Udukku and Thakil.
People are entertained as dancers painted as tigers match the beats of the local percussions.
