8 Set Backs And Stirrups Of 2014
Badaun Rape:
Alleged gang rape and murder of two teenage girls in Katra village of Badaun district, Uttar Pradesh on 27th may 2014. What made this precursor to others are the post mortem reports that have changed findings with time. Coming to what happened, the two girls had gone to field went missing; a search was in progress by the villagers as the police even after being notified has not sprung into action to find them. They searched throughout the night to find early in the day hanging them to a tree.
What triggered this unrest is the investigation by CBI declaring that they weren’t raped and that they were examined by a doctor who had no previous experience in cases of rape. The reports were alleged to be a cover up to avoid the international shame and dismal law of action.
Dhoni’s Retirement from Tests:
With several instances to shake up humanity in people and to pay respects, we now come to Dhoni’s Retirement. After a draw in the 3rd test and the series scraping off our hands, Dhoni has decided to quit tests making way for the young team and wishing them well. What has been a shock is also an expected one with no tests for next six or seven months; but this news coming in the middle of a series may be the shocker.
Through the year serving several headlines all being ones to be grieved; this one may make us feel light at heart.
