8 Politically Rousing Slogans That Shook India

Bangalore: Whether Indian politicians have a poetic sense or not may remain a matter to be questioned, but during the poll-time in the world’s biggest democracy, one really witnesses the political parties bringing out a great deal for political slogan or ‘catchy one-liners’ to gun each other in the electoral arena.  Here are the most popular political slogans the country have ever come across as listed by Economic Times-

1. Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan (Hail the soldier and Hail the farmer):
Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan was the first post-independence political slogan coined by the then Prime Minister, Lal Bahadur Shastri in 1965. It means ‘Hail the soldier and Hail the farmer’. The slogan was given against the backdrop of war with Pakistan and food crisis. It motivates the soldiers to defend India and at the same time, encourage the farmers to do their best to increase the production of food grains and also to reduce dependence on import. It became a very popular slogan. The campaign boosted the nation's confidence at a time of crisis and aided the Congress Party's success at the polls in 1967.
