Operation Meghdoot was carried out by Indian army in 1984 to foil the attempts of Pakistan to deploy its troops over the Siachen glaciers. In 1984, Pakistan claimed the authority over the Siachen glacier, and ordered its troops to capture the region till Karakoram Pass. But the Indian Intelligence leaked the information to the armed forces well before. Hence Indian Army along with Indian Air force launched this operation and eventually succeeded in preventing Pakistani soldiers in gaining authority over the region.
