6 Things You Should Know About Indian Soldiers In Siachen

Geographical advantage:

Siachen Glaciers is located between India and Pakistan Borders and one-third of the region is controlled by India. Since India controls the higher region and Pakistan controls the lower region it is almost impossible for our enemy to come up and conquer the complete glacier. Regardless of the geographically advantages our brave soldiers have always been geared up in protecting the borders.

Deaths:

If you think most number of deaths in the region has occurred due to enemy firings then your prediction is wrong. As mentioned earlier, combat with enemies in this place is almost impossible, but to our dismay, combat with severe climatic conditions have always been bothering Indian Army troops in Siachen.

There have been many instances where many soldiers have lost their life and went missing on account of surprising deluge of snows and gales with the speed of 185 km/h. Since 1984, it is estimated that more than 1000 soldiers have lost their lives and the recent example was Havaldar Gaya Prasad, who was in missing for 18 years and was found dead in 2014.
