J.P. Movement, 1974:

The J.P. movement also called Total Revolution Movement was a mass movement launched by Jayaprakash Narayan against Indira Gandhi's government in 1974. The movement which was started with the motto ‘Sampoorna Kranti’ (Total Revolution) in Bihar, soon took the shape of an anti-corruption movement and spread to other parts of the country. Later, it became pan Indian mass protests. Like Mahatma Gandhi, J.P.  stayed away from power politics and successfully inspired an entire generation of youth to participate en masse in the Satyagraha against corrupt governments in Gujarat and Bihar, to avoid the path of violence and encouraged students to fight against caste and class injustice. The movement progressively gained significance and many youngsters, including Lalu Yadav, Nitish Kumar, Sushil Modi, Narendra Modi, became a part of it.
