Union Minister of State Holds Virtual Meeting with South Indian Film Associations Urges to Join WAVE

Dr. L. Murugan, the Union Minister of State for Information & Broadcasting and Parliamentary Affairs, held a virtual meeting with representatives from film associations across Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Telangana, and Andhra Pradesh. The meeting included key officials such as Shri Sanjay Jaju, Secretary of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Shri C. Senthil Rajan, Joint Secretary (IP), and Dr. Ajay Nagabhushan M.N, Joint Secretary (Films).

Participation of the South Indian Film Industry at WAVES 2025

A significant focus of the discussions was the upcoming World Audio Visual & Entertainment Summit (WAVES), set to take place from May 1 to 5, 2025. The meeting underscored the importance of robust participation from the South Indian film industry, including technicians, producers, directors, and actors. Additionally, the possibility of involving major production houses and creating a dedicated pavilion or booth at the WAVES Exhibition Space was explored.

Positioning India as a Global Creative Leader

In closing, Dr. L. Murugan emphasized that WAVES aims to bring together all segments of the media under one umbrella, aligning with Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi's vision. He reiterated that this initiative represents a crucial step toward establishing India as a global leader in the creative sector.

The inaugural World Audio Visual & Entertainment Summit (WAVES) will be hosted by the Government of India in Mumbai, Maharashtra, from May 1 to 4, 2025.
