Spotify has expanded its premium offerings in India by introducing four new subscription plans, giving listeners more choice across price and features. The lineup now includes Premium Lite, Standard, Student, and Platinum plans, each offering ad-free streaming and improved audio quality.
The most affordable option, Spotify Premium Lite, is priced at Rs 139 per month and offers high-quality audio up to 160 kbps for a single account. The Premium Standard plan, at Rs 199 per month, provides ad-free music and audiobooks, downloads for offline listening, and 'very high' audio quality up to 320 kbps. New users also get a two-month subscription at the same price.
Students enrolled in eligible institutions can opt for the Premium Student plan at Rs 99 per month after the first two months. It includes all Standard benefits at a lower price point.
At the top end, the Premium Platinum plan costs Rs 299 per month and supports up to three accounts. It offers lossless audio up to 44.1 kHz along with AI-driven features such as AI DJ, AI Playlist Creation, and 'Mix Your Playlists'. Platinum subscribers can also connect DJ software to the app.

Alongside the new plans, Spotify has introduced Audiobooks Recaps, an AI-powered feature that generates short summaries of audiobook sections users have already listened to. Currently in beta, the feature is available for select English audiobooks on iOS. It provides spoiler-free summaries and appears only when the listener has started an audiobook. Publishers can join the program starting December 13 and also choose to opt out.
Spotify says Audiobooks Recaps will expand gradually as the company prepares for a wider rollout.
