JYP Entertainment Sets Sights on India as Next Major K-Pop Market
- JYP plans to open its first office in India as part of its global expansion.
- The move follows HYBE and signals rising K-pop focus on the Indian market.
- India’s fast-growing K-pop fanbase is attracting major Korean labels.
South Korea’s top entertainment companies are increasingly turning to India, and JYP Entertainment is the latest major label preparing to enter the country. The company, which manages global K-pop groups like Stray Kids, TWICE and ITZY, is planning to set up an office in India as part of its broader global strategy, according to recent reports.
This move comes months after HYBE became the first major K-pop agency to formally establish operations in India. Since then, other players, including G-Dragon’s agency Galaxy Corporation have expressed interest in expanding into the country through concerts, brand partnerships and collaborative projects.
JYP’s plan positions it as the third major Korean label actively exploring India after establishing a strong presence in the United States. Though the company has not yet disclosed the office location or timeline, the decision aligns with its ongoing effort to build regional hubs across Asia.
India has rapidly become one of the fastest-growing international markets for K-pop, driven by a sharp rise in music streaming, social media engagement, and fan communities. Industry experts say the arrival of a top-tier label like JYP could strengthen local promotions, expand fan outreach, and possibly open doors for collaboration with Indian musicians.

It may also spark talent discovery initiatives, as global agencies increasingly look beyond Korea and the West to diversify their artist lineups.
For JYP, entering India is more than a market expansion, it’s a strategic step toward shaping the next wave of global K-pop by making India an influential player rather than just a consumer base.
