Google Unveils India's Best Play Store Apps and Games of 2025

Google announced its list of the top apps and games on the Play Store in India for 2025 on Tuesday, highlighting how AI-powered experiences continue to shape user behavior. According to the company, 69% of Indians had their first interaction with AI through an app on their Android device, reflecting the growing demand for smart and intuitive digital tools.
This year’s top honor for Best App went to District- Movies Events Dining, which stood out for offering a seamless entertainment discovery experience. On the gaming side, CookieRun India: Running Game not only took home the Best Game award but also won in the Best Pick Up and Play category, thanks to its easy controls and India-focused content.
AI-forward apps dominated several categories. invideo AI: AI Video Generator led the Best for Personal Growth segment, while Toonsutra: Webtoon & Manga App was recognized as the Best Hidden Gem for its new AI features that turn comics into immersive digital stories. Productivity and creative tools also found a strong presence on the list, with Goodnotes, Luminar, Daily Planner, and SleepisolBio receiving awards across large-screen use, multi-device performance, daily essentials, and watch-based utility.

Google also introduced a new 'Top Trending' category this year, spotlighting apps that surged in popularity. Instamart, Seekho, and Adobe Firefly topped this list for their rapid growth and impact.
In gaming, local themes stood out. Free Fire Max won Best Ongoing Game for its India-inspired content, while Kamala, Horror Exorcism Escape earned Best Indie Game for bringing a fresh survival-horror experience. Real Cricket Swipe was recognized as Best Made in India, and Disney Speedstorm won Best Multi-device Game for strong performance across phones and foldables.
