KBC hosted by legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan does not need any special introduction, as it is one of the most celebrated game shows in India.

It is based on the UK game show ‘Who Wants to be a Millionaire’ and was first telecasted in the year 2000. Bachchan made his first appearance on Indian television with KBC and it came as a big twist in his career.

The show recently completed 500 episodes and Amitabh tells “500 th episode of KBC for me !! Gosh !! .. this is incredible ! Never realised it had been so long … thank you all for the love !!, as reported by Reza Noorani  of Bollywoodlife.

Initially, the show offered contestants the chance to win up to one crore Rupees, but doubled this in the year 2001 to two crore Rupees. From the fourth season the amount has been increased to 5 crore.
