Xiaomi India creates a new GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS achievement
Xiaomi India has attained yet another landmark achievement this year by creating its first GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS® feat by building the largest light mosaic (logo) in the world. Depicting its popular Mi logo, the light mosaic was laid out by assembling 9,690 bulbs, a significant milestone given the attention to detail and intricacy of the pattern work. This Guinness World Records achievement now sits proudly on the terrace of Xiaomi’s new head office in Bengaluru.
The light mosaic by Xiaomi India was a special initiative driven by the Brand Marketing team to highlight the brand’s amazing journey in India, after having grown exponentially in just 3 years since its inception to become the no. 1 smartphone brand of the nation. Designed to symbolize the collective contribution of Xiaomi India employees and Mi fans, who have all contributed to the overall success of the brand, it further highlights the brand’s effort towards pursuing unconventional modes of marketing and promotional techniques, which sets it apart from most other smartphone brands.
In addition, Xiaomi launched its Mi Home Experience Store today in India. Located in the Xiaomi head office building on the ground floor, the new Mi Home Experience Store spans over 2000 sq. ft, and will be the 50th Mi Home in India. This Mi Home outlet is a Company Owned and Company Operated (COCO) store, indicating the brand’s rapid progress in developing innovative retail measures while further enhancing customer experience. The company recently opened its first COCO store in Vashi, Navi Mumbai, after the government allowed 100% automated SBRT.
This new Mi Home Experience store reflects Xiaomi’s enthusiasm to add more value towards building innovative retail segment in India. First of its kind, the new Mi Home will seamlessly integrate retail efforts ranging from supply-chain management to product availability and delivery measures, by bringing it entirely under the brand’s governance. Xiaomi India will oversee every retail process of this store, thus enabling complete brand transparency. As a result, Xiaomi customers and Mi Fans are set to gain immense benefits by directly interacting with the brand at each stage of the retail process, while erasing any additional corporate layers. This further empowers Xiaomi customers to enjoy more intimate brand relationship due to increased efficiency of this model. Some of the innovative products on display are the Mi Robot vacuum which is a highly intelligent home cleaning device that has 12 sensors to guide it through a house, Mi Smart Washing Machine which can be controlled using one’s smartphone through which the washing process can be customized, and a Mi Electric scooter which can travel upto 30 kms on a single charge, and is 5 times faster than walking.
Serving as an extension of Xiaomi’s unique business model, the flagship Mi Home stores marry the efficiency of the brand’s e-commerce with great offline retail user experience. The new Mi Home is set to give Indian consumers and Mi Fans of Bengaluru an opportunity to gain first-hand, valuable experience of Xiaomi’s diverse array of products in India.
Upon celebrating this occasion, Anuj Sharma, Chief Marketing Officer, Xiaomi India shared that, “It has been another phenomenal year for us with our first Guinness World Records achievement to celebrate. At Xiaomi India, we keep innovation at the heart of everything we do, ensuring that we deliver the best of our innovative technology to our consumers across India at the most honest pricing. The same element of innovation also applies to our marketing efforts which brings the best of our creative abilities to the forefront. This Guinness World Records feat was a simple, yet heartfelt ode to all our Mi Fans and Xiaomi employees who have helped bring the best out of us and contributed to our great journey.”
On opening a Mi Home Experience Store in its office, he added, “This is a special milestone for Xiaomi India with our 50th Mi Home unveiling new, transformational retail opportunities through our COCO efforts, while bringing the best of shopping experience to customers in India. Besides fulfilling our goal of strengthening offline presence in the nation, Mi Home also brings our New Retail concept to life by ensuring our e-commerce efficiency reaches our retail customers as they continue enjoying the benefits of an intimate retail user experience. We hope that our Mi Fans and customers in Bengaluru take the opportunity to visit this symbolic store and make the most of our innovative product line-up.”
Mi Home has emerged among one of the most successful single branded experience store chains in the country. Xiaomi India aims to open 100 Mi Home stores in India by end of this year, and is already halfway through with its goal.
Earlier this year, Xiaomi India team moved from a single floor office space into a spacious, new office building spanning four floors. With the capacity to house over 700 employees, this massive 180,000 sq. ft office displays modern, contemporary interiors with a burst of vibrant colors, portraying the lively work environment.
