HP:

Another major player to enter the cloud storage business is HP. HP launched the service in May 2012. It offers services like infrastructural computation and content delivery network (CDN). At present, HP partners with Akamai in cloud storage CDN service.  The platform is mainly based on OpenStack technology and boasts of 99.95 percent of uninterrupted service availability.

"Among OpenStack-based cloud storage providers, HP is well-positioned to understand enterprise IT storage requirements, due to its extensive hardware, software and service offerings," Gartner notes. "However, since HP Cloud Object Storage is new, HP must evolve and refine its architectural, geographical and service offerings."

According to HP, the whole process is run across three data availability zones for better efficiency and the company certifies that this setup will offer enhanced hybrid cloud installation.
