The Deal: Around $1 billion

After year and half of dealing, Microsoft finally reached a 10-year deal to provide search services Yahoo in exchange for a cut of the ad revenue. The branding deal said that Yahoo.com will say “powered by Bing” in its search results. But years later, deal is said to be disappointing for both the companies.

 

DANGER:

The Deal: $500 million

Microsoft reportedly paid around $500 million for smartphone designer, Danger in 2008. But later on, the deal flopped heavily as most of staffs left the company. Adding to the tragedy was the poor sales from Microsoft’s Kin phone. According to certain reports, Microsoft is said to have worked around two years and invested around $1 billion in developing the Kin platform, primarily targeting the new generation users.
