Oracle Acquires One More Social Media Startup, Involver

Bangalore: It’s another acquisition for Oracle, that too in the span two months. On July 10th, tech giants Oracle acquired cloud-based marketing-service provider Involver. Prices are yet to be disclosed.

This is the third acquisition of Oracle as earlier on May 23rd they acquired Virtue, a cloud-based social media marketing campaign creator, which was then followed by the acquisition of Collective Intellect on June 5th. With the acquisition of Involver, Oracle has just moved one step ahead as Involver’s software enables Oracle to create and deploy customized social-media and internet marketing campaigns for sites such as Facebook, YouTube and Twitter.

Involver President and CEO Don Beck exclaimed in a blog post that "The combination of Involver with Oracle is expected to create the most advanced and comprehensive cloud-based social solution, across marketing, sales and service touch points."

Oracle, who recently announced their cloud platform last month, lately has been on an investment spree as last year they acquired RightNow Technologies in October 2011 for $1.5 billion, followed by the purchase of career management software service Taleo in February 2012 for $1.9 billion.

"Our technology is expected to extend Oracle’s social platform to help customers more easily and cost effectively collaborate and build engaging applications and social experiences across social networks and the Open Graph," Beck added

Oracle’s bitter rivals Salesforce.com and SAP also have been landing startups in the social software space, which includes a $689 million deal to buy Virtue competitor Buddy Media in June.
