It Will Take 3 Years And Tough Decisions To Rebuild Infosys: Murthy

Bangalore: Narayana Murthy who returned to Infosys as Executive Chairman in the hour of need, in a candid talk to shareholders at the 32nd Annual General Meeting said that the task of rebuilding a "desirable" Infosys would take at least 3 years and there would be some tough decisions resulting in "pain," reports DNA.

He also said that during last 2 years the company’s focus on the core business was blurred and he emphasized that now there’s a need to focus on employees and take quick and firm decisions. "We need to exceed expectations of customers. We are optimistic," he said and added that he felt nice to be back at Infosys after missing the 2012 AGM.

Murthy said "the task of rebuilding a desirable Infosys will take at least 36 months, even with a high quality team and full dedication of every Infoscion. In the process, there will be some tough decisions resulting in pain as we move forward." he sought the shareholders "understanding, support and encouragement in this exciting and rewarding journey of the next three years."

Murthy had shed the executive role seven years ago and retired as head of Infosys in August 2011 and returned to Infosys as Executive Chairman on June 1, replacing KV Kamat, during whose tenure the company shares plunged to 15 percent.  And in a move that surprised many, Murthy had also brought in his son Rohan Murty as his executive assistant. He’s an alumnus of Harvard and Cornell Universities, as well as the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
