India Findings Of The Ponemon Institute Survey Report

BANGALORE: Websense and the Ponemon Institute recently conducted a survey of nearly 5OO global security professionals in India to gain their insight on the current threat landscape and their organization’s ability to protect themselves from attacks. The report entitled “Exposing the Cybersecurity Cracks: A Global Perspective,” uncovered a startling deficit in security solution effectiveness; a disconnect between company executives and security professionals; and limited visibility into attack activity.

  • 64 percent doubt they can stop the exfiltration of confidential information
  • 77 percent believe cyber security threats sometimes fall through the cracks of their companies’ existing security systems
  • 43 percent experienced one or more substantial cyber attacks in the past year
  • 71 percent of companies do not have adequate intelligence or are unsure about attempted attacks and their impact
  • 57 percent say their security solutions do not inform them or they are unsure if their solution can inform them about the root causes of an attack

DISCONNECTED

  • Ponemon Institute research indicates that the average cost of an organizational data breach is $5.4 million (global)
