Huawei Ready to Take on Cisco in U.S.


Bangalore: Last month Cisco CEO John Chambers called Huawei as one its biggest rival, he said that Huawei is more significant networking competitor than HP. He also said that Cisco was in a good state to defend Huawei not only in U.S, but is also ready to challenge Huawei in its native China.

To which Huawei's head of research and development in North America said his company is all geared up to take on larger rival Cisco Systems but he also mentioned that  it will take some patience  and time reports TOI.

John Roese in an interview with Reuters on the sidelines of IT infrastructure conference Interop in Las Vegas said that "The US is by far our most complex market ... for us our entrance into the US is similar to a western company entering China."

"We basically said it will take a few years to get to critical mass but the US is not critical to our revenue objective," Roese said.

Huawei is China based company headquartered in U.S, Texas and for the last 10 years it has been selling infrastructure to US telecom operators. The company sells switches and routers that move data through networks and devices such as modems and smartphones, but of late Huawei is aiming to provide equipment to large organizations, a market largely dominated by Cisco Systems.

Last year in September Huawei launched its enterprise unit, with this the company has high hopes of generating $15 billion revenue globally by 2015. This year they are also planning to to invest $4.5 billion in research and development and moreover, the company has also finalized deals of more than $7 billion globally. The enterprise unit provides equipment such as hubs, routers and switches that run networks transferring data across corporations reports TOI.
