Enterprises Confused- Windows 7 or Windows 8

Bangalore: Microsoft’s next big thing, the Windows 8 has just finished its worldwide preview. People turned up in packs, just to get glimpse of the new interface and its new features. But how well do you think that Windows 8 will perform in the real time market? Well reports say that enterprises and Windows core customers are still opting for Windows 7 instead of Windows 8.

In past years we saw that whenever a new Windows operating system is launched customers usually stopped using the old OS and waited for the new one. Also what made Windows OS popular is that they never changed the core basic stuff in operation. But gradually with the launch of Windows 8 people are thinking the other way.

We know that Windows 7 is Microsoft’s most popular OS up-to-date as reports say that Microsoft has sold over 600 million licenses since it was launched 3 years ago, but still people think that the arrival of Windows 8 is too early. With the gradual transition from Windows XP to Windows 7 is still on process, the arrival of Windows 8 has simply confused its customers. Microsoft already has confirmed reports that they will end releasing updates for Windows XP by 2014 and with this enterprises and customers are simply opting for Windows 7 and not waiting for Windows 8.

Although we can see that Windows 8 has got some excellent eye catching features, but it’s said that opting for Windows 8 can really lower the productivity morale of employees. The main reason that they say is that Windows 8 is totally different from all former editions of Windows. It will take at least some time for people to grasp the basic operations and moreover from an enterprise point of view, Windows 8 has very little to offer.

Reviews say that Windows 8 is done with the traditional desktop and has opted for more of a ‘Metro’ type view. But there are still stuffs from the previous OS and we may have to continuously switch between the two, which makes trickier. We are sure that Microsoft will definitely improve on that but as for now, with multiple screens and an entire new basic structure that may turn hard to comprehend; Windows 8 is surely to be a one big delicate package.
