James gained notoriety at the age of 16 when he became the youngest and first juvenile to be sent to prison for hacking. At 16 James hacked in to the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) under the handle C0mrade. He also hacked into NASA systems and stole software worth $1.7 million. This heinous incident forced NASA to shut down its computer systems for almost three weeks ultimately racking up a $41,000 cost to fix the mess.

James had a very short span of life he died at the age of 24. The exact reason for his death is not revealed but according to the sources it seems that he committed suicide. In an anonymous PBS interview he said that “I was just looking around, playing around. What was fun for me was a challenge to see what I could pull off.”
