People Live On Less Than $1.25 A Day In These 10 Nations

Central African Republic and Rwanda:

Both the countries have 63 percent of their population under poverty, with CAR having a population of 44.40 lakhs and Rwanda having a total population of 1.11 crores. The situation of CAR is only getting worse, with the unrest in politics, rebellion and civil wars; the distorted economy is only going to get worse. This country is one of the poorest in the world with heavy increase on violence on women, killing, torture, and massive displacements. This country is on the verge of a complete melt down with no improvement since the freedom given to them from the French rule.

Rwanda has a huge number of people in poverty. This country’s annual population growth rate is at 3 percent that means that an addition of 12 million people will be added by 2015. The genocide of 1994 killed over 1 million people and thus changed the whole demographic set up with 54 percent of the population consists of women. Children in this country will not grow to full potential because of malnutrition as reported by “The Borgen Project”.

Malawi:

One of the poorest countries in the world, Malawi is immersed in a pool of poverty that has gripped 71 percent of the population in this evil. The country has a population of 1.5 crores and 80 percent of this population’s primary source of income is agriculture. The country has no diversification of employment with larger families poised to have higher risks of being poverty stricken.

Poverty is not the only restraint on this country, 11 percent of the population suffers with HIV/AIDS epidemic. As if this was not bad enough, the weather, low yield and deteriorating soil fertility adds to the burden of the agricultural-dependent country as reported by “Rural Poverty Portal”.
