First official meeting scheduled for early 2026
India, Australia, and Canada have agreed to create a new trilateral alliance called the Australia-Canada-India Technology and Innovation (ACITI) Partnership. The initiative aims to strengthen collaboration in critical and emerging technologies while building on existing bilateral ties among the three countries.
According to India’s Ministry of External Affairs, the partnership will focus on clean energy innovation, resilient supply chains, and critical minerals. The alliance will also support each nation’s long-term net-zero goals by promoting sustainable technology development and diversified supply chain networks. Alongside this, the three countries plan to work together on expanding the safe and responsible use of artificial intelligence to benefit citizens.
Officials from all three sides will meet in the first quarter of 2026 to begin shaping the roadmap for the partnership.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the initiative after meeting Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and Canada’s representative Mark Carney. Modi said ACITI will bring democratic partners across three continents closer, enhance cooperation in emerging technologies, support cleaner energy systems, and accelerate the widespread adoption of AI.

On the sidelines, Modi also held separate meetings with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer and UN Secretary-General António Guterres. He noted that the India-UK partnership has gained fresh momentum this year and highlighted his discussion with Guterres as highly productive.
During the opening session of the G20 Leaders’ Meeting, Modi called for a reassessment of global development frameworks. He also proposed a G20 initiative to counter the drug-terror nexus and establish a global health response team.
