Advertisements That Swept The World With Their Creativity

# Miss Clairol

Back in 1950s and 60s, personal things were a well kept secret, and so was hair coloring as well. Especially women did not openly talk about the hair coloring activity openly and coloring the hair was considered as taboo.

At this time when Clairol intended to take the market with its hair coloring product, advertising was the only subtle means to get to know the people about this. Clairol campaign that asked, “Does she or Doesn’t she?” was the longest running ad for the company.

It also smartly took over the markets and the sale rose with more than 50 percent of women using the product. As a result the copywriter of this ad was inducted into the Advertising Hall of Fame in 1967.
